Greetings, all. I have a friend who owns a Flex 5000A. He informed me yesterday that something 'has happened' to the rig in the past few days and that it was showing no RF output. He's asked me to help him (remotely) diagnose the problems - I'm in Illinois, he's in Florida. We'll be using a 'gotomyPC' hookup - not ideal, by any stretch of the imagination - but, I've tried it and I can, at least access his screens and help walk him thru some of the checks and help with wading thru some of the OS screens.
Any suggestions as to where I might start looking? I've already poked thru most of the SDR screens and see that there appears to be no transmitter output on any of the HF bands - but, do see (according to the virtual wattmeter) from 14 to 30 watts output on 50 Mhz. This output appeared only after the owner reported reinstalling all the FlexRadio-provided software. And, he says he's tried restoring all the settings to default. At this point, I don't have a clue as to whether I'm looking for a hardware or software problem in his system. The only changes in the OS I can find were 3 recent Windows XP security updates which have self-installed in the past few days. Suggestions?
