Charlie, The Icom rigs use a condenser microphone which requires a DC bias supply on the mic line. The Heil iC elements are also condenser elements for compatibility with the Icom mic input circuits and therefore also require a bias voltage. The Heil iC elements are NOT compatible with the Flex-5000 input circuit. The only way to use one with the Flex would be to build an external pre-amp which would supply the required bias voltage to the mic element and pass an unbiased audio signal to the Flex. Sorry.
