If you come thru the second port (the one usually used to gang controllers) you can fully control (180 degrees, bidirectional, etc.) but that means you are not using the radio monitoring mode but active control.
There is a standalone utility at www.telepostinc.com that can control the steppir controller but I think it isn't compatible with the very latest firmware.
