I like Dale's idea of a separate preamp in the Rx1 in/out line but I already
have the much needed 6M preamp in that line.

Trevor, that is and has always been the intended behavior to turn off the preamp
below 2 MHz and not make it available (grayed out). There was a bug that
allowed you to turn the preamp on below 2 MHz and that is the bug that was
fixed.

Hi Dale,
Totally agree about using separate rx antennas on the low bands - I've been
using Wellbrook loops for a number of years and find them extremely effective.

However my point about the preamp is that as soon as I switch to 160 the button
is greyed out and only becomes available again if I tune above 2 MHz and
according to the release notes this behaviour has been fixed in the latest
release.

So I'm wondering if its just me or is everyone else seeing the same thing

Hello Trevor,

The internal preamp in the FLEX-5000 begins to roll off below 3.5 MHz, so it
doesn't have much gain at 160 meters. I've been experimenting with small
receiving loops on 80m and 40m and of course the preamp works fine in both
instances, but I also plan to build a loop for 160m, and will build an external
stand-alone preamp which will be placed into the RX1- In/Out loop along with the
loop itself. The RX loop is very convenient since the T/R switching is handled
for you, and you won't have to be concerned about further protecting an
external preamp.
