Usually with EMP from lightning strikes, you will see a quick rise and fall in
the noise floor that corresponds with strike. I have also heard (and seen) a
slow rise in the intensity of QRN over several seconds an then it drops down.

What radio are you using?

Subject: [Flexradio] panadapter scallop design

This panadapter is new to me so I have never seen such a thing. There are
some severe storms approaching the area although not very close. My
panadapter display looks like the scalloped edge of a table cloth or
something. EVERY 10KHz the signal peaks and there is a squawking noise at
the peaks. No signals and this is on EVERY HF band.

Is it the storm or is there some other creepy thing going on?

 Stan, WA2UET
