Tim,
I just received the 5000A from Flex yesterday and they recalibrated
both receivers after repairing RX2. Furthermore both receivers show
exactly the same reading when connected to my a signal generator as long
as the input level is above the noise floor of RX2 ie -114dBm. The
problem is on signals in the -114 to -124 dBm range.
Any ideas???

You need to run the RX1 and RX2 level tests to calibrate the both
receivers to the same signal levels.

Subject: [SPAM] [Flexradio] Help - RX2 Noise floor test

I just recently sent in my 5000A in for some minor warranty work. Flex's
service was excellent!!

I still has one problem that maybe is just the nature of the beast. My
noise floor is 8 to 10dbm higher on RX2 is sharing the same antenna by
setting it's antenna to RX1 Tap.

It would be very helpful if a few people would run the following test.
It requires RX2 and the new Hrfio board. Set both Preamps on and both to
the same filter width (ie USB 2.7). Using the Antenna Selection window
set Receiver 1 to N/C and compare the S-Meter readings with Receiver 2
set to RX1 Tap and then N/C. Check this on several bands.

I find that RX2 has a 8-10dbm higher noise floor while on RX1 Tap but is
similar when on N/C. ie -123dBm for N/C but -114dBm on Rx1 Tap.

This problem shows up in real life on a quite band and both RX1 and RX2
are connected to the same antenna (RX2 by using RX1 Tap) . I can hear
weak signals on RX1 that are just above the noise floor that I can NOT
hear on RX2.

Please note that this is NOT a problem when the noise level of the band
is higher than the noise floor of the receiver 2 or if I am using two
different antennas.

Thanks and 73's Mark NU6X
