Hi Harold;
I fell your pain !
Couple of suggestions, suggestion one is try it with a dummy load if it is working then it is probably RF coming back down the antenna coax , this is a common problem with many antenna types and certainly with OCFD type antennas . I know because I have that problem at my location. The cure was to install a Sheath choke right at the feed point of the dipole.In my case I used a Radio Works 1:1 choke just under the 4:1 Balun. I run legal limit and that took care of it. My antenna is right over the back of the house which can really cause unbalances in the antenna and the feed line . Some computers are more effected by RF, I had one that would just go nuts with any RF , the cure was to run a ground wire from the metal case to the ground wire on the 115 vac plug, it was a Apple Power Book and ran off the power adapter , so it did not have a ground, just connected to the DC supply. If I may be of help to you just email me .

I just received my FLEX 3000 yesterday. It hooked up pretty easy and receives well.

My problem is with the transmit. As soon as I turn the power up past 60 watts RF is

getting into something and the software locks up. The transmitter does stop transmitting

but I finally get a host error screen and have to kill and restart the software and then is all

back until I transmit again. I am a little concerned since I don't even have my amp hooked

up yet.

I do have a lot of wire in the shach and probably more then the law allows hooked to the

computer but they all serve a purpose and are needed. I also have 2 computers using the

same keyboard/video/mouse through a KVM switch.

So, what do I do? This isn't going to work as it is. Do I have to have a dedicated computer

not hooked to anything else to make it work? Not sure that is worth the trouble or going to

happen at my shack. I did put a coke at the computer end of the firewire but that made

no diffreence.

Can anyone give me some suggestions.

Thanks,

Harold
