Thanks Tim,

Yes, I have now tried the Eltima package in trial mode and it works. I seem
to have everything functioning, but now I have other issues that I will put
up in another post. It's so easy. Hi hi It is really not that bad, just a
few snags with the new 64 bit OS.

vCom is only 32-bit. It will not work with x64 Windows operating systems.

I have tried the serial port software below and I know the Eltima stuff
works

I realized I misspoke when I said VAC. I meant vCom. I started talking
about com0com and some figured it out, but I thought I would clarify.

Make sure you loaded the 64-bit version. I am using it here and it does
work, it just isn't signed for 64-bit use.

Tim,

Well, as it turns out, VAC won't run at all in Vista 64. I did find links
to this effect and this was confirmed by others. Bummer. Luckily, I did
download and get com0com to work. Of course, it too has to run either in
test mode or using the F8 option. But at least I can get things to run.
That is good. I must admit the com0com interface is much better than vCom.
I used to get the slow tuning response from DM780 to PowerSDR and com0com
appears to have a buffer option that addresses this very issue, although I
have not gotten that far yet. But I digress from the point of this post.

I was given this link by F5JD (thanks Jose!) for a commercial solution for
64 bit Vista (and presumably 7) with a signed license that should run in
normal mode (no F8 or locking into test mode). Looking at the
documentation, it appears to be a very nice solution with a nice interface,
data monitoring for troubleshooting, etc. It's cost is $25, which is
reasonable to get rid of the hassle. But before I pay, has anyone here
tried it with 64 bit Vista?

A second option that Jose gave me was the link below. This one appears to
be even more robust (or at least marketed very well) with a signed license
for 64 bit Vista, but its cost is $100 for a single license. You can add
lifetime upgrades to it for $29. Pretty pricy for a driver, but it does
exist as an option.

So has anyone tried the Eterlogic or Eltima serial port drivers? I did just
find where both can be downloaded and run on a trial basis, so I might have
to give both a go.

Not that I am aware of and I have been looking for a while now.

I have just bought a new computer and it is loaded with 64 bit Vista. I
figured out the work around for VAC using F8. It would be nice if there was
a signed driver version, but at least I have PowerSDR running now. IS there
another SIGNED driver alternative solution to VAC?
