I've had good success this weekend updating my computer system for use with my Flex-3000. I am using the following set up and it is working extremely well:
Gigabyte EX58-UD3R Motherboard (Intel X58 chipset) Intel Core i7 920 processor 4 GB DDR3 RAM Nvidia 9800 GT video card with 1024 MB video ram (running dual monitors) 500 GB WD "Black" HD Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit My peak latency after an hour of monitoring was 188 us, so I am very pleased with this set up do far. I am running in "normal" mode. I chose this Gigabyte motherboard for two primary reasons: It has the TI firewire chipset and an on board serial port header. The onboard TI FW chipset has worked very well with the latest Flex FW driver and I wanted a serial port for my SteppIR controller. Even with a multitude of apps running (including VSP Manager, DDUtil, AC Log, VE7CC DX program, IE8, Outlook, VPN/Remote Desktop and others, the CPU usage never exceeded 10% and the latency was as reported above. I have not done any "tweaking" of the Win7 OS and am running it as it came "out of the box", including the Aero animations. For those of you looking to upgrade to a Win7 64 Bit system for use with Flex-X000 and PowerSDR, I would highly recommend this motherboard/CPU combination. 73, Bill AB4BJ _______________________________________________ FlexRadio Systems Mailing List FlexRadio@flex-radio.biz http://mail.flex-radio.biz/mailman/listinfo/flexradio_flex-radio.biz Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/flexradio%40flex-radio.biz/ Knowledge Base: http://kc.flex-radio.com/ Homepage: http://www.flex-radio.com/ Message delivered to arch...@mail-archive.com
