You have already received a suggestion that you use VSPmanger which is good advice. There are also some known problems with PTT and HRD. My suggestion is that you bring up fldigi first as it is all one program and simpler to set up than HRD/DM780. After you have all the CAT functions working with fldigi you can switch to HRD knowing that any remaining problems have to do with the HRD configuration and not VAC/VSPmgr and/or ddutil (if you need it).
