Anthony...

You might want to look at http://www.ssbusa.com to get some general ideas. The "problem" (it's not really an unsolvable problem) with covering the entire scope of one of our ultra-wide VHF/UHF bands is that the IF device, typically at 28 MHz, has to cover that range. This may be accomplished with switchable local oscillators. Most commercial transverters, e.g. Elecraft, seem to take the easy way out and have one local oscillator and consequent 2 MHz coverage since the hosting transceiver usually covers only ham bands (on transmit).

Hi Guys,

Just wanted to ask a couple of transverter questions if I may,

1 - what is the general rx/tx range of a 2m transverter? or do they all drastically vary
2 - is there much drift with newer generation transverters?

My goal (unsure if realistic or not) is to get entire 2m 144-148Mhz SSB/FM - is this doable?

Cheers,
Anthony
