Every power-carrying wire needs to be fused to protect it, period. It
doesn't matter if the manufacturer provides it or not. Whenever you
have a run of wire, that wire should have a fuse sized to the wire
gauge. This is why I prefer to fuse each positive lead going to the
rig separately.

And the fuse value that protects the wiring may be different from the
fuse value needed to protect the device itself.
