Bill, On the FLEX-5000 ATU, every relay for selecting inductors and capacitors can be individually set from PowerSDR(TM) over RS-232 and thus bypass the OEM firmware. This allows us to make software instead of firmware improvements on this model.
There is no hardware capability to individually control the relays in the SDR-1000 ATU so we do not have the ability to make improvements there. On the SDR-1000 ATU, there is only a single digital line that says "Tune."
