After some extensive testing (oh, around 30 mins or so....)

I have decided to make it available to the masses.....

Ok, I spent a little time over the weekend a knocked together a little
application to do the job.

Here is an image showing it's two states.

You simply load it by clicking on the application, or put it in your startup
folder and it will watch for PSDR loading and then it
will disable power management.

As soon as you close PSDR it enables the original Power Management state and
your computer will again sleep or power save as normal.

If anyone would like to try it, please email me direct so I can send you the
link to download it.

I would prefer it be tested by a few to start with and then I will make it
available to all.

Works on XP upwards and requires .NET 2.0

Have tested on XP and Win 7 with no issues.

It would be easy to write a service to monitor when PSDR is running and then
disable Power Management. I'll add it to my little
project list and see what I can come up with for you.

Thanks to everyone for the replies and the nifty files but the quest
continues to find a fully automated way of doing this. Something controlled
or triggered by PSDR.
In other words something you don't have to remember to do.
