Hi Fellow FLEXERS,
I have now successfully upgraded to v.2.0.19 RC1, and am extremely pleased
to find so much improvement in the CW. I have put my external keyer to the
side, and have plugged my Benchers directly into the front panel of the
"1500." The improvement is remarkable, and I join all the others in thanking
the whole team for all the months of hard work. It is much appreciated. I am
telling everybody I know about the big change/improvement!!!
Here are my new concerns, and a question:
I have purchased an HF Linear Amplifier, an Italian-made HLA 150 plus, which
very nicely takes the 1500's 5 Watts and, depending on the band I choose on
my 80-Meter horizontal loop (up 40' in the rough shape of a square), on some
bands I am now seeing upwards of 125 Watts out, and I'm pleased.
When doing CW, though, I can hear the T-R Switch in the amp clicking on and
off between the words, as between the first CQ and the second CQ I often
send, or between my callsign N3AO and the second N3AO I send. I don't know
much about amps at HF and am concerned that this on-off flip-flopping may
harm my amp. If there's a risk, what parameter should be changed to prevent
the problem? I've tried to find the info on my own but so far have come up
dry. Any suggestions, please?
A secondary question, regarding this HLA 150 plus amp, if you have one:
Right now I do not have a cable connected from the 1500's FLEXWIRE I/O jack
to the RCA jack on the back of the amp. I am assuming that this cable has to
do with auto-band-changing, but there's not much documentation in the amp's
manual on this. Anyone know the pin outs on each end of a cable I should
make, please?
