Hi Dale,

I've got an old 2 gig HP machine running Windows 7 with a couple gigs of ram. I
too took out the virus software and everything else task manager would let me
shut down without killing the computer.

I went to PS2 mouse and keyboard as they can compete for USB port with the 1500.

Just watch your CPU reports on the Flex. Anything under 30 per cent here is
usable with anything around 20-25 per cent rock solid. Anything above 30% and I
risk the computer hiccupping as I send CW. Not good. Right now I'm running
around 18-20 per cent and sending flawless CW and clear SSB. (With the caveat
that on 40 meter with the drive at 100 the rig is overdriving. at 99 it's fine.)

Now I've got the 1500 running with Writelog (more or less as still don't have
the CW memories working out of Writelog) and an external Idiom keyer into an
old Palomar all-band 100-watt amp (think CB brick from a few years back but
never used and found in another ham's basement) and into a LDG Pro-200
autotuner so I can run from 5 to 100 watts depending on the contest and
conditions.

System works great. Placed 8th world wide in California QSO QRP non-CA category
and would have taken first in Canada if only I had worked about 20 CW contacts.
Next year. :)

Best regards,
