Just a bit of a nit-pick, as this is an issue raised by the anti-Flex crowd.

You don't NEED to go with the virtual connections; you can use the legacy audio I/O cables, Signallink or whatever you use with a [standard/normal/legacy] radio. So long as you you take the usual precautions for RF ingress and connector integrity you are good to go.

But why do so? Keep everything in the digital domain. VAC/VSP just works. The other radios do not provide that option.
