Hi Dave! Welcome to the world of FlexRadio SdRs! Its an incredible experience (I bought the first generation SDR-1000 as something to play with between the end of basketball season and the start of baseball season and after a month of play, I sold my two TT Orions and Icom 756Pro2).
XP is a great system to use with the Flex. First thing I would do to prepare is to read the Tweakhound's "Super XP Tweaking Guide" at www.tweakhound.comand perform the tweaks he himself uses (there are a lot of tweaks defined that he doesn't personally use and I would avoid them). Bypass the Services section of the Super Tweaking Guide as there is a better source for that. After doing that, go to www.blackviper.com and look at the list of Services that he would disable for "Safe" operation. That will give you a great start! 73 Neal On Thu, Sep 8, 2011 at 1:08 PM, dave dabay <kd3p...@verizon.net> wrote: > > > I am learning more and more every day...but now it would be great to know > what you all are doing to Win XP to make it more friendly to the Flex...I > have learned that the Flex does not like the power yanked out from under > it...new PS, now PS on a UPS (earthquake, hurricane, storms fluter the > power)...yesterday moved Win XP to a UPS..then last night...stupid Win XP > "auto reboot" over night due to updates loaded...will reset updates to > manual.. > > more things you all can suggest to minimize the disruption. > > I like to leave the PC, Flex, PSDR, VSPmgr, fldigi running all the time so > I can drop in and listen at anytime..is that reasonable to expect? > > thanks > > dave dabay > kd3p...@verizon.net > > > > > ______________________________**_________________ > FlexRadio Systems Mailing List > FlexRadio@flex-radio.biz > http://mail.flex-radio.biz/**mailman/listinfo/flexradio_**flex-radio.biz<http://mail.flex-radio.biz/mailman/listinfo/flexradio_flex-radio.biz> > Archives: > http://www.mail-archive.com/**flexradio%40flex-radio.biz/<http://www.mail-archive.com/flexradio%40flex-radio.biz/> > Knowledge Base: http://kc.flexradio.com/ Homepage: > http://www.flexradio.com/ > -- Abroham Neal Software www.abrohamnealsoftware.com Work:(540) 645 5394 Mobile:(540) 645 8171 _______________________________________________ FlexRadio Systems Mailing List FlexRadio@flex-radio.biz http://mail.flex-radio.biz/mailman/listinfo/flexradio_flex-radio.biz Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/flexradio%40flex-radio.biz/ Knowledge Base: http://kc.flexradio.com/ Homepage: http://www.flexradio.com/
