Hi Mike, G7TWC Well I made some progress but first:
I was wondering what version of N1MM you are using? I ask this because I notice that you have a TS-2000 selected instead of the “Flex” or “5000 RX2” from the configure setup? I am using Ver. 11.9 and a F3K. Ok for the progress: I seem to have everything working...... I don’t trust it yet, I need to turn the computer off and on and try it for a couple of days before I gain real faith in it. Ok, for the garbled sounds. I use a program called Vegas to do the editing with. It’s actually a video editor but also has a sound editor built into it. Looking at some of the letter sounds, which consistently seemed to be garbled, I noticed that they were clipping in the editor. So I went back and re-edited all the letters to make them all the same amplitude. That seems to have cleared up the garble sounds. But like I say I’m going to give it a couple of days. Now for the truncated sounds. Why the sounds are truncated, well I have not idea, but I’m using N1MM, going thru DDutil to PowerSDR. Thinking that what is needed is an extra letter at the end so that the previous one if fully verbalized. So I added a .1 sec empty sound clip to the end of the letters and other messages. That seems to have fixed it. However I will also add this note. When I use Voicekeyer by Ray, K9DUR with DDUtil into PowerSDR I do not get the clipping or truncation. With or without the extra sound bit. So if over the next couple of days what I have setup now fails, I will simply revert to using Ray’s Voicekeyer and N1MM for logging only. I did try to make the pause between the CQs longer than the CQ message length itself (an N1MM issue way back) but that didn't cure it either. Someone asked a month or 2 back about that as well, but it didn't get resolved to my satisfaction so if you get a reply that cures that, please fill me in. (I'll watch the board anyhow). I don't get the garbling during playback of anything other than the truncation issue. Screenshot attached for my settings. I have included my personal VAC settings in PSDR too, for context. I run my Flex as SO2R else I can't run CW split for juicy DX. Hope this makes sense, and hope it helps. Basically I'm trying to set up N1MM's voice keyer to play back *.wav messages for the upcoming Cal. QSO Party. I have it basically working but have run into two problems. 1. Some times the *.wav file sounds garbled. I have setup a macro which will say the stations call and give the exchanges information. My call is KD6HQ, so some times the letter H will sound garbled and sometimes the D or 6 might be garbled. 2. The end of the message that I am sending gets truncated. So you only here first part of the last word or letter. Lets say the last part is "QRZ" well you might only here "QR" and it truncates the "Z". Recording messages: One of the ways to record these messages is to push "ALT, Shift" and one of the function keys. Then speak into the mic record your message, then press "alt, shift and the F" key again to stop the recoding. Then you should be able to push just the "F" key to here the message. At least that's the way I understand it. Well this is not working either. I have qso recording working FB. I haven't tried recording new wav files for CQ etc during N1MM use so that bit I can't promise works. Once done, I will be in contest nirvana. W4AX (Mack) Knowledge Base article is my blueprint. Using PSDR 2.1 and N1MM 11.9 One simple thing seems to be standing in my way - The "Select Message Recording Port" selection in the N1MM Audio Tab does not offer VAC 1 or VAC 2 as an option - only option is "microphone". Is there some setting in XP I need to adjust to show the VAC options? Gotta be something simple - I hope. . .
