I must admit to also having a fair bit of disappointment with the 1500. I
picked mine up at the factory in August of 2010 and, frankly, I cannot
remember any time within the last year where the 1500 has worked 100%
properly. No sooner does Flex solve one problem but another takes its
place. I can usually work around whatever deficiency crops up but right now
my 1500 is sidelined completely. After I transmit a couple of times the RX
image rejection goes to almost zero, i.e. only about 6dB of image
rejection, making the 1500 little better than a single-channel
direct-conversion receiver.

But I have no plans to get rid of it because I have no idea what I would
replace it with. I do digital modes almost exclusively. I know of no other
company besides FRS that provides a 100% digital path from the receiver to
the modem/CODEC and from the modem/CODEC through to the final mixer in the
TX.

So I am hanging in with my 1500 hoping that Flex solves the image rejection
problem. If they do (and they don't introduce any new problems) the 1500
will be a super little radio.
