This came from the *Southgate Amateur Radio News*. My question is, is
there a Flex counterculture similar to what we saw in the early days of
Apple? Being part of the Silicon Valley community back in those days, I
would say that I see many parallels. People would buy Apple ][ machines
and then immediately try to find ways to do new things and push the
performance envelope. There were product-specific computer bulletin
boards, user's groups, and newsletters. Where the Z80-based machines were
more business and science, Apple was more about creativity and fun.
Unfortunately for me, I was not on the Apple side of things. This is from
the article:

*Radio amateur and Apple co-founder Steve “Woz” Wozniak WA6BND was
interviewed on the BBC radio show Today on December 14 and now on the web.*
* *

*In it he says allowing a counterculture to develop is vital to creating
companies that will revolutionise an industry.*
* *

*Speaking to Evan Davis about his former business partner Steve Jobs, he
said that allowing creativity in the early days of Apple was far more
important than how you dressed or the length of your hair.*
* *

*He told the show that structured societies tend to stifle the kind of
innovation that helps create hi-tech heaven.*
