I had to have my Dell DuoCore XP computer operating system removed and
reinstalled because of a BAD virus.
Now, I'm trying to get Power SDR 2.2.3 reinstalled.
The Release Notes say noting about installing in a completely new
computer, which essentially mine is at this point. They only refer to
updating from 1.8._.
I downloaded the software and installed it. When I open it, I get nothing
but Demo Mode. It says to go to Setup and select the appreciate radio,
Flex 5000 in my case.
When I do that, it refers to nothing but SDR-1000. There is no selection
for 5K, 3K or 1500.
I assumed that the appropriate Firewire driver is included with 2.2.3. If
not, that's probably my problem.
BTW, if you get a notice saying that there's a new version of Java for
download, DON'T do it.
That is apparently how I got my virus. It come up and says something like
"XP Antivirus 2012."
Then, it prompts you do Scan with this fake antivirus program. Then, it
asks you to purchase it for $50. I did NOT do that.
Nevertheless, the virus was still in the computer messing up all sorts of
things.
So, be cautious about ANY downloads that are suggested.
Once I get the radio working again, my nest task is reinstalling VAC,
LOTW and several digital programs. VAC was a pain last time.
