Is the motherboard a non-standard item, or could it be replaced by a current, cheaper model? Just curious.

Eric,

We discontinued the manufacture of the FLEX-5000C a while back an once
we sold the remaining inventory, as they became cost prohibitive to
manufacture and sell at a reasonable price . We still fully support all
FLEX-5000Cs that are under warranty and will service non-warranty
FLEX-5000Cs on a parts available basis. Since the hardware "radio part"
of it is essentially identical to the FLEX-5000A, servicing the RF deck
is not a problem and will continue do do so for the foreseeable future.
The PC part is a different story. The motherboards are still available,
but have become VERY expensive. The DC-DC converters are still
available. If you need parts, please contact the Service department

I have had my Flex-5000C for years, but am brand new to the reflector.
I notice it is no longer listed on the Flex web site. Is it no longer
available?

I also heard some one mention the other day that they had a mother
board failure in their 5000C and were having a hard time finding a
replacement. Is that correct?

Lastly, is the DC to DC converter available that converts the nominal
12 volts to the various voltages the mobo requires?

Everything is fine for now; I just want to be sure I will not have any
problems in the future after paying the extra cost for the very fine
5000C!
