Hi Mike I use a black 13" MacBook (early 2008) with my Flex-3000. It works great! Much better than the Thinkpad T60p it replaced. The T60p always ran hot and I had to use a laptop cooler.
I agree with Brian. If you can, try to pick a MacBook with a Radeon video controller and not nVidia. There are latency issues with the nVidia drivers that cause DPC problems. I tried to use a 2010 Mac Mini but found the DPC latency ran 2000 microseconds with occasional spikes. If I disabled the nVidia 320M GPU driver it dropped to 145 microseconds but I found the default Windows VGA driver to be limiting. 73, Sheldon VE1GPY From: Michael Ruttenberg <mjruttenb...@gmail.com> Date: Wed, 7 Mar 2012 10:14:12 +0000 To: Flexradio forum <flexradio@flex-radio.biz> Subject: [Flexradio] Anyone using MacBook with PC dualboot? Is this a viable option given that most Windows laptops don't support FireWire ports any more. And if you believe differently I'd like to know which ones. Currently using DELL latitude D630 and it is marginal at times and has monster pauses up to 2300us.
