Gentlemen: I know that all flexers have been following the development the FCC's interest in the dictate that congress gave them by suggesting that ideas be developed for better protecting/utilizing ham radio and I think everyone had "for the public in times of emergency" in mind. I see no way but digital utilization for the new 630 meter band. I have a project underway myself in an attempt to contribute in some small way.
And if you go to QRZ today you will find the digital topic under discussion. It was almost a year ago now that a posting on a flex reflector asked if anyone was actively using SDR for emergency communications. I don't think that a two meter handheld net for bicycle rides and parades was what he had in mind. I've been agitating for a reasonable Resource Type for ham radio for three or four years now without much success. Last year I asked the President of the ARRL why the League wasn't taking an active roll in this and she pretended to not know what I was talking about. My mailperson just delivered the two new League publications: "The ABCs of Software Defined Radio" and "Get on the Air with HF Digital." I haven't looked at them yet but I have high hopes! Let's face it. If we want to protect our spectral rights we will do something positive. 73 Lee K9WRU _______________________________________________ FlexRadio Systems Mailing List FlexRadio@flex-radio.biz http://mail.flex-radio.biz/mailman/listinfo/flexradio_flex-radio.biz Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/flexradio%40flex-radio.biz/ Knowledge Base: http://kc.flexradio.com/ Homepage: http://www.flexradio.com/
