Art, After many FLEX QSOs I'll will miss you. I first worked Art with the SDR-1000 and continued with the FLEX-5000. 73, Bob K8MLM In a message dated 6/27/2012 10:14:41 A.M. Eastern Daylight Time, w8...@yahoo.com writes:
I received word that Art, K8JK passed away this morning. I mention this because Art had quite an impact on the world of "Flexers". It was around 2003 when Art and I were sharing a room while attending the Dayton Hamvention. He wanted to attend a forum presented by Gerald on software defined radio. It was the first forum on Saturday morning, and I was not anxious to be there that early. Besides, I didn't need no stinkin' computer attatched to my radio. After the forum, I admitted to Art that it was indeed a unique radio. Later that day, he ordered an SDR 1000. When the 5000 came out he got one. I was impressed, but my wallet remained tightly closed. When the 3000 was introduced, my wallet opened, and I became a "Flexer". Others followed: Larry K8OMA, John W8SJV, Gary K8EHB, Jim WA8UGC, and Ray W8ADV (age 90). I know there are more, influenced in turn by each of us. Art has a 6500 ordered. Maybe UPS can deliver it to his new address. We'll miss you Art. 73.
