Regarding audio quality with the FLEX-3000. In the old days, the rule of thumb was to minimize the number of active audio stages to minimize noise and distortion. (The ideal was said to be a straight wire between the microphone and the speaker!) The FLEX-3000 manual does not say much about the use of the FlexWire balanced line input vs. the unbalanced RJ-45 microphone input. Does the FlexWire line input involve fewer preamp stages or is its audio signal simply attenuated? If simply attenuated, it would seem that the use of an external microphone preamp/processor will not reduce noise and distortion, even though the external compression or equalization functions may be more sophisticated than those built-in the FLEX. And, I would guess that with the microphone connected directly to the FLEX via its RJ-45 connector, fewer chances exist for ground loops or other RFI issues. So, any advice would be appreciated.
