Tim Ellison:
The "Flex3000 no output power" described in Message 2 below and your comments led to identifying the culprit in my Flex3000 system. The problem was indeed in the Audio Chain but not the Mics, which were both Heil ProSet HC-6's. The actual problem was traced to the Heil ProSet HC-6 Adapter cable (Yatsu Modular Headset adaptor, AD-1YM). This is the second failure in this item in 18 months of operation, So for my operational environment and techique this becomes a weak link in the system. Lesson learned: Look for the simple potential failures First! My thanks for the help form Tim and others who responded off-line. Everyone have a good day! Output noise has increased in level. OK. That is what I would expect as you are putting more DSP gain into the TX signal path. > 3. This indicates that there is nothing going on with the DSP or the PA, so the issue is most likely software configuration or mic type and wiring issues. > 4. Now we are getting somewhere. What replacement was done? Does the headset by chance have the iC element installed? > 10. I substituted another mic in place of the Heil and there was > no change in the reading on the Mic output. What type of mic? Is it using the same mic cable as the Proset? I believe that you are not getting AF gain into the radio. If the mics are condenser types, like the Heil iC type elements needed for Icom radios, then they will not work with the Yaesu interface cable because the +5 VDC mic bias is not connected. Yaesu and FLEX radios are expecting dynamic mic elements that do not require the mic bias voltage, so that is why it is not wired up. You can use a condenser type mic element, but you will have to modify the Heil Yaesu mic connecting cable to do so. If you have not done so, reset your database to the defaults and connect a dummy load to the FLEX-3000. Then use Rob's W1AEX's step-by-step procedure for setting your mic audio settings. If you are not seeing signal when you speak into the mic, then you are most likely not getting signal into the radio. > > > > Offline contact can be made through techin28...@embarqmail.com > > > > > > Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated and my thanks in advance. > > > > Wally Grantham > > KI4VPD > > _______________________________________________ > FlexRadio Systems Mailing List > FlexRadio@flex-radio.biz > http://mail.flex-radio.biz/mailman/listinfo/flexradio_flex-radio.biz > Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/flexradio%40flex-radio.biz/ > Knowledge Base: http://kc.flexradio.com/ Homepage: > http://www.flexradio.com/ ------------------------------ _______________________________________________ FlexRadio Systems Mailing List FlexRadio@flex-radio.biz http://mail.flex-radio.biz/mailman/listinfo/flexradio_flex-radio.biz Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/flexradio%40flex-radio.biz/ Knowledge Base: http://kc.flexradio.com/ Homepage: http://www.flexradio.com/
