I think you've hit the mark on your advice. I sold my Flex-5000
prematurely, thinking more about market value and less about the possible
down side of ordering an early FlexRadio. Luckily, I have a KX3 that I've
been using - it's a great radio, but 12 watts max transmit power is
limiting.

I have a 6500 and, like you, am disappointed that many features that I grew
to love on the 5000 are still futures in the "yet to be Smart" SDR. If I
had my 5000 still, I would at least have those capabilities, which are
mature and stable.
