Paul, Your DAX not being consistent maybe the way windows enumerates the sound devices when Windows boots. You need a speaker in the Playback properties of Sound Properties and a line in or mic in the Record , this is just to keep default sounds off the DAX drivers. If you don't have something plugged into your sound card, just put a blank plug there, Windows doesn't care , as long as something is there.
On some of the latest versions of Wsjt , open a second slice, have an A and B slice available. Seems WSJT is always looking for VFO A and B. If you use TS2000 or Ts480, either one works for me.
