Something which I have added to my toolkit to troubleshoot freezes and slowdowns is a program called Process Lasso. You can find it here:
https://bitsum.com/ Essentially it monitors the loads of various programs, and how long they grab the machine. Used as intended, it will force ill-behaved programs to relinquish the computer. You can also include various programs it should ignore, such as PowerSDR.EXE, limit the number cpu cores, etc. Despite the hype on the web site, it really can help dramatically, but that is just patching the problem. Fortunately, it has excellent diagnostics, showing which programs have cause issues, and for how long and often. The trial version is fully functional for a few days, which is normally ample time to spot the problem and fix it. Even better, if you completely uninstall it, you can install it again later and get another few days. I have located problems very quickly which might have taken considerable time to do otherwise. 73s, Alan WA4SCA _______________________________________________ FlexRadio Systems Mailing List [email protected] To opt out of the Reflector: http://mail.flex-radio.biz/mailman/listinfo/flexradio_flex-radio.biz
