This is pretty sad.
It's times like this when I start to consider relocating to Canadia to find a job and live there, much as I bash on it (jokingly, of course; it really wouldn't do to be bashing our 51st state).

Note that the Staples clerk actually told the servicewoman and her son that instructional flying software was illegal, before he reported them to the police.
(As for 51st state jokes, if the U.S. dollar crashes any further than it already has, I think that 11th province jokes will be more appropriate.)
