i think i might be the first using cygwin/windows/.Net-Vc7 given my
troubles.

anyway i've tried both g++ and Vc7 and have problems either way.

to Erik who suggested the problem is only visible when X11 is installed on
Cygwin:

how do i uninstall X11 using cygwin?
