The yellow ones will be oil and gas rigs. The red spots are navaids - so there's likely to really be some land there.


The reason for the huge number of points in the uk is that I imported a list of ordnance survey triangulation points. These're actually concrete pillars about 4ft tall which were set up to allow precise surveying of the UK in 1936 - as a navigational aid they're not that useful, but if you fancy a challenge, they can be quite good fun to locate, and often correspond to peaks used as visual reporting points.
