What I don't understand about this issue: why even zero velocity? There should never be zero velocity, since there is nearly always some wind, gravity and so on. But when you are on ground, the friction of the gear should prevent any movement to the side apart from extreme cases and even alongside the roll direction unless enough force is applied.
Note: I do not know how this code works, but the physics at least should be relatively easy.
