Curt, just a thought that struck me the other day: IIRC, in august this year 
year or so, the project will be celebrating its tenth anniversary. Would it 
be an idea to try and coincide the 1.0 release with this occasion?

Anyways, I'm positive about the plan of doing one more intermediate release 
and then to go for it...
