Yes, Martin has. Shortly before the 0.9.9 release, and Steve's response
was very positive: "Sure - seems like a good idea." But then there was
some discussion about remaining things to fix in this thread, and
it died out without anyone reporting success or bringing a new release
up again. Currently CVS/HEAD has one GUI problem for which there's a
working and approved fix. Rest is AFAIK stable and usable. (I'm almost
always using fgfs with plib/HEAD.)

A new release right now wouldn't be necessary, but an agreement that
we rely on CVS/HEAD from a particular date (once that GUI bug is fixed),
would be nice. Then we could start to get rid of the old plib stuff
in fgfs and update it to the state of the art. Relying on a CVS
version shouldn't be a problem for developers. And, of course, we'd
need a new plib release before our next release.
