KRHV in the default scenery has around 40 taxiway signs.

You can use the UFO object model editor for placing signs. There's a
sign placeholder (m-key dialog: "sign.ac"), and you can insert the
sign contents (as described in README.scenery) in an invisible input
field right above the green info line (lower left corner). Just click
there and write at the red cursor. Use the e-key to export to 
~/.fgfs/ufo-model-export.xml or the d-key to dump the sign coordinates
with the contents string to the terminal.
