Debian insists on building shared libraries for plib and simgear, even
though FlightGear is the only package that would use them on the system.
Unfortunately, there seems to be some strange error reports from people
trying to use these shared libs on debian system.

If it was me, I'd remove all the debian prepackaged stuff, ignore their
patched source, and build static versions of these libs (the default) from
the native source code.  It should build clean, and should work better.
