Changes to the huge compressed files should IMHO generally be avoided. It means that, no matter how simple the change, everyone has to download megabytes of data. In most cases it should be enough to drop Robin a line and to wait for the next update. (In the last apt.dat.gz one of my routine airports was dropped. I'd like to add it again, but it wouldn't justify a 4.6 MB download for everyone.)
