I haven't had a chance to contact Butterfly Media myself, but perhaps
someone here would be willing to pull lead on that?

This weekend I was contacted by an ebay seller. I did a quick google search
and found that his ebay ads had ripped off our screenshots and the
watermarks had all been stripped. That is frustrating and I asked this
seller about the screenshots. He indicated that he had no idea. He had
simply signed up as a reseller with Butterfly Media, they provided all the
screenshots to him, and this was just one of the 500 products available for
him to sell through this Butterfly company. When he makes a sale of any
software product, he notifies Butterfly Media and they drop ship to the
customer. The ebay seller never actually sees or handles the product at any
time.

This particular ebay seller is actually very reasonable and did indicate
that he would fix all the screenshots he uses.

So this is interesting ... the sellers on ebay and other places on the
internet may not be the bad guys here. Butterfly media may not be bad guys
either, but right now they are stripping the watermarks off our screenshots
along with rebranding our software, so they aren't getting off on the right
foot.

I think it makes sense to first approach them cordially and offer them the
opportunity to resolve this in a friendly manner. This could be simple
carelessness on their part, or a poorly trained employee, versus willfully
abusing our image copyrights. If that doesn't produce a solution, then we
can let Arnt have his batteries back for a few days ... :-)

Thanks,

Curt.
