I don't think that changes anything, since the .git folder contains all the data of all revisions anyway (compressed) and I cannot imagine that a git clone does actually transfer more than that. I just checked fg-data out and it transfered about 2.16GiB of data. If it helps, I could put that in a .tar.lzma on my webserver and you could download as much as you can afford this month and the rest next month. Just tell me if you want.
