I have to admit that I'd rather trust a personal explanation of what this
guy is actually doing than an automated translation ;-)
Anyhow, note that, not only in real aviation life but also in FlightGear as
well, there's a substantial difference between the visual representation of
an arrangement which resembles the shape of an airfield on one hand and the
logical entity of such on the other hand.
Thus, if this guy has developed a tool to write an apt.dat-compatible file
out of GRASS (or QGIS or whatever) after drawing an airport layout: Great.
Otherwise I'd assume that TaxiDraw is still the best we have. It's still
missing a few useful features (like reading geo-referenced background
imagery for example) but aside from that it's doing a pretty good job for
creating v8.10-compatible airfield-layouts.
