I'm assuming here that the mailing list is largely what it proposes to be, i.e. 
a place where people from different backgrounds discuss development issues. I 
do not doubt that there are people here who would be able to follow a more 
technical language or a math discussion, but not everyone comes from the same 
background, and the same way I am grateful if someone tries to avoid technical 
expressions I am not familiar with, I try to return the courtesy.

In my personal experience here and in the forum, I have never observed a 
math-heavy post leading to any sort of detailed discussion (for whatever 
reason), so I try to avoid packing too many equations in. I don't want to make 
the implication that I'm doing math well beyond anyone's comprehension (I am 
clearly not), it's just an observation and I would ideally like to involve as 
many people in a discussion as possible.
