Welcome on board ! this mailing list or the devel mailing list are the places to discuss various topics on flightgear development. What version of flightgear are you running and on which platform ? If you want to help, you would have to get the bleeding edge CVS version to be in sync with the other developers. Then you could help by submitting bug report and eventually submitting patches ( code, doc or data ) Sceneries are automatically generated from free data so no artist skill are required at the exception of textures and buildings. I am personally working on a tool to manually enhance sceneries ( http://fgsd.sourceforge.net ) but for the moment it can only be used to place buildings on the map. Its aim is to correct rought data with the help of scanned mapped of aerial photos. You can also help by creating 3D models of aircrafts, buildings, landmarks. You can also provide various aircraft sound records. Become familiar with CVS flightgear and you will see yourself that there are a lot of possible enhancement.
