For aircraft performance specs - that stuff is generally available on the web, or in
books. For specific information, such as aerodynamic stability derivatives - that
stuff is
_not_ generally available and is in fact generally packaged and _sold_ for great
amounts
of cash, along with a promise not to release the proprietary data.

I don't believe there is anything related to performance and dynamics that is in the
POH
that would be off-limits. That stuff is (I would think) more procedures and systems
operation. Flight dynamics can be derived from publicly available sources,
manufacturer's
web sites, and aerodynamics textbooks (see the summer 2004 JSBSim Newsletter, "Back of
the
Envelope", at www.jsbsim.org). Much of the more detailed aerodynamic characteristics
fall
out of analysis of the basic, published performance data, or can be guessed at
initially
from data published for other similar aircraft types, or a tool such as DATCOM+ can be
used to derive more realistic aerodynamic properties (see the current JSBSim
Newsletter -
October). From that point, the values can be tweaked until the modeler is happy.

The Flight Control system is more complex. Properly modeling the flight control system
is
where things ca get tricky.

Flight modeling is art and science.
