OK, could you try   0.3.
I have had many difficulties with 0.2.2 mainly with conflict between the
size of my X11 display and the size of .png Map.
With 0.3 no problem.
Here the Map command i do use:

Map --size=1024 --enable-airports --enable-navaids --atlas=/work1/Atlas
--glutfonts --smooth-color --palette=/work1/AtlasPalette --fg-
scenery=/work1/Scenery  --headless  --fg-root=/work1 

I have a specific working Directory /work1   with in it 
=>Atlas which will receive the .png files 
=> the file AtlasPalette
=> The link to My Scenery Directory
=> The link to Airport directory
=> The link to Navaids directory
I declare fg-root on /work1

"--headless" parameter is very useful to avoid the display during
processing.
