Downloaded and extracted simgear 0.3.8 to ~/SimGear-0.3.8 Downloaded and extracted plib 1.8.4 to ~/plib-1.8.4. Downloaded and extracted freeglut 2.4.0 to ~/freeglut-2.4.0 Used the cvs commands from www.openal.org to retrieve the openal source.to ~/openal Now a description of what seems to work and of my problems. plib. I ran ./configure and make install. This reported no errors. FreeGlut. ./configure seems to work but when I run make I get an error message (if anybody volunteers to help then I can send them the output of configure and the output of make). OpenAL. According to the docs on the web page I need to install the Win32 version of OpenAL. I can see a directory that seems to have some files for MSVC but I can't see any inherent support for compiling under Cygwin. All other problems stem from my OpenAL problem. For example, when I run ./configure in the SimGear directory I get an error message about OpenAL not installed. I won't even attempt to compile FGFS until I've solved the OpenAL, FreeGlut and SimGear issues. Any Win32-Cygwin help will be very gratefully received and please feel free to shout at me if this thread should be on the developers' forum rather than on the users' forum.
