I believe it's non-functional in the 737, but someone
else will have to verify.
Along these lines, I was thinking recently that 737
flights would be much more realistic with a
functioning course, altitude and speed holds (ie.
autopilot) set from the top of instrument panel. I
find it quite a challenge to hold altitude and speed
to tight tolerences while changing the radio,
deploying flaps, looking at my approach plate, etc.
And given the new vertical separation limits I believe
manual flight is becoming less common these days in
IFR conditions.
Is updating the AP in this way possible?
Cheers,
Mike
