Hello AJ MacLeod,

Thank you very much for your accurate pointing to the solution. That driver 
was indeed the main problem.
Now, with new nvidia drivers, with default values  I have 20-30 fps when 
flying , lower rates when in menu/keyboard events processing.
It gets stuck sometimes ( when to many events ....and some other situations 
I can not identify  yet ) but it started OK for studying .
